Plano East Baseball Boosters Selling Fresh Fruit as Fundraiser

Plano East Baseball Booster Club has launched their biggest fundraiser of the year selling fresh fruit. Gala apples from Washington, ruby red grapefruit from the Rio Grande Valley, and navel oranges from California are available for purchase.

The baseball teams from Plano East, as well as McMillen High School and Williams High School kicked off fruit sales this week and will continue through Tuesday, March 1.

“We have repeat customers every year,” said Carolyn Alvey a Plano East parent. “This is some of the best fruit I have ever eaten and it’s a great healthy alternative for families. Supporting this fundraiser is a win-win. Plano East Baseball can continue to build its program and families have made a great food choice.”

The proceeds from the fruit sales goes to the Plano East Baseball Booster Club which offsets the costs of field upgrades, facility improvements, and new equipment for the Plano East Baseball program.

A full box of fruit is $30 or $15 for a half box. Buyers can choose to mix two fruits for one full box.  There are 36 apples to a box, 18 grapefruit, and 30 oranges in a full box. Fruit will be available for pick up in Murphy from March 12 – 14.

To order fruit, please email Carolyn Alvey at carolynalvey@sbcglobal.net or call 972.423.4144.

Plano East kicks off their 2016 season on February 25 with the Rawlings Lake Cities Classic Tournament. District play begins on March 15. Schedules for the varsity, junior varsity, McMillen and Williams baseball teams are available online at planoeastbaseball.com.
