With early voting for municipal and school board elections beginning Monday, April 29, interest in who is running for office has heated up. Four Murphy candidates have opted to make it possible for the community to come out to meet them and ask about their platforms.

Incumbent Colleen Halbert is running for re-election for a third term. She is hosting a Meet and Greet at Niki’s Italian Bistro, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30.  A coffee event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1 from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at Saxby’s, located in the Murphy Marketplace. Colleen Halbert said, “I chose to have two events so that our residents have different options depending on their availability. We have so many stay-at-home parents and individuals that a daytime event made sense to include.”

Three other candidates have chosen to showcase a popular local retailer, En Fuego, at their Meet the Candidates event. Former Mayor Pro-Tem John Daugherty, candidate for Mayor, shares, “En Fuego Tobacco Shop opened two years ago and has contributed to the retail success of Murphy. “ He will be joined by two-term incumbent Scott Bradley and newcomer Eric Lopez. The En Fuego event will be held Thursday, May 2  from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

Election Day is May 11, and early voting is available from Monday, April 29 through Tuesday, May 7.  More information regarding voting times and locations can be found on the City of Murphy’s website here
